Why Is the Sky Blue?

The sky appears blue because of Rayleigh scattering. As sunlight enters Earth’s atmosphere, shorter blue wavelengths scatter more than longer red wavelengths. This scattered blue light reaches our eyes from all directions, making the sky look blue during the day.
